　　1) Uniform external wear

　　Mechanical wear is caused by the contact of the wire rope with pulleys, drums, during use time. This wear is uniform under normal conditions.

2) Deformation wear

　　The steel wire rope and the pulley often produce chronic displacement and partial abrasion, the steel wire rope vibrates violently on the pulley. This kind of deformation wear is deformed by local extrusion, and the cross section of the steel wire stretches into a wing shape on both sides of the extrusion. From the appearance, the width of the steel wire is expanded. Although the cross-sectional area has not changed significantly, the material of the steel wire is hardened at the local extrusion, which is more likely to cause wire break.

3) Internal wear

When the wire rope passes through the drum or pulley, all the load on the wire rope is pressed on one side of the wire rope. At the same time, the wires in the strand move due to the bending of the wire rope, and the contact stress between strands increases. When repeated cycles of stretching and bending, stress concentration occurs in the deep recess and cause wire break. The fracture of the internal wear steel wire is tooth-shaped, and the surface is smooth and concave.

4) Extrusion wear

　　When the wire rope is installed or in a slack state, it may fall on the outside of the pulley or the damaged part of the rim. If it is not found in time, friction between the wire rope will cause this kind of wear.
